First up, apologies to everyone who’s been trying to visit us over the last week and were simply greeted with a Database Error.
Our “service provider” (hoho) ixwebhosting.com have had some serious problems, apparently, with their MySQL server. Seemingly unfamiliar with the concept of a live/standby system, tech support simply took it offline and left our site (and many others) dangling uselessly like a gimpy limb. Not at all impressed.
Still! We’re back now, and we’re staying up or Twiggles is going to hit the syrup of figs and do a low-level flypast over IX HQ.
So Head in the Clouds (and many other sites) got hacked on Sunday, and some redirection code was inserted into the site which sent unsuspecting RSS Feed readers to a MalWare site in Moldavia.
We have now corrected this problem (with little help from our ISP I’m sorry to say) so it just remains for me to apologize if you suddenly found yourself on some strange new site!
If anyone a) lives in Moldavia and b) does cheap assassinations, please contact Twiggles and Cobbe. They may have a job for you.
Twiggles and Cobbe are back, and as you can see, feisty as ever.
But I hope you enjoyed the Eggs earlier in the week- we’ve got quite a few of their strips lined up; we just need to decide whether to post them on here or give the Eggs their very own site.
The frumph WCRCA votes are in! Alas, no, we didn’t win, but did place a fairly respectable 7th in both the Design and the New Strip categories. Not bad, I think, for a comic that was only 20 strips old at the time.

… about the Fleen review. How could you tell?
Cobbe is feeling especially smug, since he wrote his own Haiku on the spot in panel 3. What a clever bird!
In other news, the Frumph voting is going well, and we greatly appreciate your support. No idea if we win a prize or anything, but as you know we’re only in it for the glory and the greater good of mankind… pffft.
I had a couple of people contact me this week asking about voting on the WCRCA at frumph.net, so here’s a simple step-by-step you can follow to make the magic happen:
1) Go to http://wcrca.frumph.net/
2) On the top middle you will see a link to “REGISTER”. Unfortunately you do have to register to vote, but frumph is a good site to be a member of if you like webcomics.
3) Sign up via the registration link, and wait for your confirmation email. This might take a few minutes, and watch out that it’s not in your SPAM folder.
4) Now you can go back to http://wcrca.frumph.net/, and this time on the top bar click the “LOGIN” link.
5) Now on the left you will see all the categories. We’ve been nominated in two of the categories: Design and Newest
6) In each category you will see the nominees. Please note you can only vote for one comic per category, so I hope you can guess which comic will benefit from your wild clicking.
7) Anyway, look for “Head in the Clouds” and give it a thumbs up!
(Obviously you can vote for any comic you like in any category. As much as we’d like you to vote for us, there are loads of excellent comics in there)
If you’re new to the strip, you may wonder how Twiggles and Cobbe ended up stuck to the front of a Jumbo Jet. Well, as they say on all the best TV series: “Previously on HITC” should explain everything.
Voting has started for the Web Comic Readers Choice Awards over at frumph.net and I’m really pleased to say we’ve been nominated both in the Design and the Newest categories, and have even picked up several votes already.
If you would like to show your support, why not head on over there right now and give us the thumbs-up? A big thank you to all who have voted, or who will do.
First, I need to apologise for the bad pun that graces today’s cartoon. Waddya mean, you don’t get it? Am I the only one with a thesaurus around here?
Second, you’ll notice we dropped the banner from the top of the page. Part of our drive to ultimately become an ad-free webcomic! As soon as this thing is self-sufficient you will enjoy pure 100% HITC without the fluff. Until then, we just have to suck up those AdWords.
Last, but very much not least (well, from our egos’ point of view anyway) we got a really nice mini-review from the Fleen Team (find the blog here at www.fleen.com) so thank you very much folks!
Cobbe is so lucky to have a friend like Twiggles on hand to save the day. I just hope it doesn’t go to his head.
We’re starting to see a lot of links into the site by now, so thank you to you folks who are flying the HITC flag out there, and coming back to us as regular readers.
